Acceptance of Terms

By using PortChecker, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Permitted Use

PortChecker is intended for the following lawful purposes:

  • Checking the reachability of TCP ports on your own public IP address
  • Troubleshooting your own network connectivity and firewall configuration
  • Network administration of systems you own or are authorised to manage
  • Educational purposes and learning about TCP/IP networking

Prohibited Use

You must not use PortChecker to:

  • Scan or probe systems, networks, or IP addresses that you do not own or are not authorised to test
  • Conduct unauthorised security testing or vulnerability assessment
  • Attempt to circumvent access controls or security mechanisms
  • Generate excessive, automated, or bulk traffic that places unreasonable load on the service
  • Use the service in a way that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Assist or facilitate any of the above activities

Rate Limiting and Abuse Prevention

To protect the service and prevent abuse, requests are rate-limited per IP address. Automated scanning, scraping, or high-volume use is not permitted and may result in your IP being blocked.

Accuracy and Reliability

Port check results are provided on a best-effort basis. Results may be affected by transient network conditions, routing asymmetries, firewall behaviour, and other factors outside our control. Do not rely solely on this tool for critical infrastructure decisions.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We make no guarantees regarding availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PortChecker and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
